Hijab Story

Naz is a Mumpreneur with 2 teenage girls who are heavily into sports. Along with her daughters she has created a collection of three affordable sports hijab to encourage more Muslim girls in schools and beyond to participate in sports and keep healthy at the same time.

The idea and journey began when one of Naz’s daughters who is a keen athlete told her mum that some of her friends would not join her in school sports activities because they felt uncomfortable wearing their normal everyday hijabs during PE lessons. Her friends complained that their daily hijabs get in the way because they are long scarves that are wrapped numerous times around the face and have to be pinned and tucked – which in fact is a health and safety issue, but also as well as that it makes the girls feel very hot and sweaty when doing physical activity. Naz and her daughters sat down one evening and brainstormed and Hijab Active was born.

The specially designed sports hijab has been made for ease and comfort and for all girls and women who want to participate in sports. The Hijab Active has several qualities which include Sweat wicking properties, anti-odour, anti-bacterial, breathable and of course washable.

It is so important that all girls and women have an opportunity to play sports with ease and comfort. The Hijab Active has been made to give girls and women the confidence and freedom to play sports whilst observing their religious beliefs. Hijab Active is all about creating inclusivity in the sports arena and breaking down social and cultural barriers that exist. We hope Hijab Active will potentially find Young brilliant sports women of the future!
